This story reported on an art exhibition that I attended. It was the first story that I used a video as well.
This story was a real learning curve as it happened the day of the 6.5 earthquake in Wellington. As a result, it got put on hold while the class concentrated on quake stories and was only written and published weeks after it happened. Timeliness is important as it makes the story more relevant and therefore more newsworthy. If I had the chance to do it again, I would have had it up faster, despite the quake. My favourite part is being able to include a photo of lego.
note: I see that I have mentioned timeliness in the quake story post as well (see below). I suppose that timeliness is still applicable as an overarching theme of this event.
This story was in response to the earthquake last Sunday (21/07/2013). I learnt that timeliness on certain stories is crucial. This story is only relevant while the earthquake itself was still in the public eye. However, I like it as it was different to other material on the quake.
This was my first story. I attended an event at Wellington High School, took photos, and interviewed some of the participants. Later, I called and interviewed several people important to the story.
